Abstract

The increasing volume of waste in Indonesia demands a shift in consumption behavior toward a sustainable lifestyle. Public information is believed to foster environmental awareness, which in turn strengthens reuse behavior as part of the 3R principle (reduce, reuse, recycle). This study aims to analyze the role of public information and environmental awareness on students' reuse behavior. This study used a quantitative, survey-based approach among university students. Data were collected using a standardized questionnaire, then analyzed using Path Analysis. The results indicate that public information increases students' environmental awareness and reuse behavior. Environmental awareness increases students' reuse behavior, and environmental awareness mediates the relationship between public information and reuse behavior. These findings strengthen the theory that public information plays a strategic role in shaping the awareness and environmentally friendly behavior of the younger generation. This study provides practical implications for universities to improve environmental literacy through extensive public information and for the government to expand access to information on environmental policies. The results are expected to encourage students' awareness and active participation in protecting the environment through reuse practices.
